皆既月食を家でゆっくり見ようとタクシーに乗ったら、ダッシュボードにiPadが設置されていました。

個人タクシーではないので、「会社支給ですか？」ときいたところ、私物だそうです。「いやぁ、老眼になっちゃったんで、この大画面がカーナビとして便利なんですよ」とのこと。

画面はGoogleマップになっていましたが、渋滞チェックの場合は300円くらいの有料アプリを使うそうです（すみません、酔っぱらってたのでアプリ名聞き損ねました）。分かりにくい一戸建てなどに迎車する場合はストリートビューであらかじめ付近の画像をチェックできて便利だそうです。

運転手さん、結構コワモテな方でしたが「これのおかげでお客さんと話が弾みます」し、スマートフォンのバッテリーが切れてしまったけどすぐに振り込みが必要というお客さんや、渋滞で飛行機に乗り損ねて次の便を予約したいお客さんに貸して感謝されたこともあるとか。

車内を流れるBGMもiPadからで、お客さんのリクエストに応えたくて運転しながらiTunesで曲をダウンロード購入したことも。

ネットワークにはイーモバのWi-Fiルータを使っていて、運転しながら端末を見せてくれました（安全運転お願いしまーす）。

楽しそうに、便利に使いこなしているこの運転手さんのおかげで、iPadを買うお客さんや同僚が続出みたいです。
