時間リッチな人と、時間プアな人では、お金の価値がまるで違う。


たとえば、予算２０万円を使った旅行でも、

半年の休みをとれる時間リッチな人は、

あらかじめじっくりと時間をかけて旅行先の国の地理や歴史や文化の本を読み、

片言ぐらいには言語を話せるようにし、

ネットで十分な情報を集め、シーズンオフに格安の航空券を使い、

現地の味のある安宿をぶらぶらと泊まり歩いたり、

現地の露店マーケットの売り子さんや宿の人と片言で交流したりしながら、

気に入った小都市に長期滞在したり、現地で友達を作ったりしながら、

ゆったりとバカンスを楽しむことが出来る。


一方で、時間プアな人は、予算２０万円の旅行でも、

連続して休みが取れるのはたった７日間で、実質現地で過ごせるのは５日間に過ぎず、

仕事の疲れもあまりとれないうちに、

都市や遺跡の歴史的背景も、現地の人々の文化や置かれた政治的立場もろくにわからぬまま

現地の人との交流もろくにないまま、観光名所をあわただしくまわり、

高級ホテルにとまって贅沢気分を味わうのが関の山だったりする。

いかにも貧しい旅行だ。
